st lucia is one of the caribbean’s most popular destinations, thanks to its stunning beachscapes, lively music and dance scene and delightful tropical weather. the island is also known for its fabulous caribbean and creole cuisine, which draws on freshly caught fish and locally produced exotic fruit and vegetables.
diners on st lucia have a vast range of choice spread out before them in terms of the island’s restaurants. from views so incredible you almost forget to eat, to stunning gourmet delights that wow the senses, st lucia’s restaurants offer it all. although you might want to spend every waking minute in your superyacht's embrace, we recommend you take a few nights to discover the delectable foods of st lucia. since not all restaurants are the same, captain sputh of my starfire, a 178' superyacht for charter, has curated a short list of where to dine in st lucia when on a superyacht charter.
the cliff at cap
with possibly the best views of any st lucia restaurant, the cliff at cap makes for an essential dining experience for all those visiting the north of the island. the west indian and french-inspired food is fantastic and the service excellent, but what diners really come here for are the views. perched dramatically on the cliff-top, the restaurant is surrounded by soaring birds, while the open ocean glitters in the sunlight all the way to the hazy blur in the distance that is martinique.
those just after a drink are recommended to try out the cliff at cap bar, which features a novelty pulley/zip-line system for the delivery of the excellent selection of local rums to the bar’s wooden deck.
razmataz
the spice palette of indian cuisine is extremely popular on st lucia and nowhere presents it better than razmataz. the genuine tandoori charcoal oven burns 24/7, producing a vast array of fabulous flavours to be enjoyed in the restaurant’s pretty patio garden setting. visitors should also test out razmataz’s extensive cocktail list, with local rums and fruits blending beautifully to counter the heat of the food.
flavours of the grill
for deeply flavourful authentic caribbean cooking at its best, flavours of the grill, also on the northern tip of the island, is the place to go. portions are generous and packed with local ingredients. the food is closer to home-cooking than fine-dining, but with friendly staff and a lively atmosphere (especially on a friday night) this makes for the perfect caribbean dining experience. for those with a sweet tooth, the banana bread and homemade ice-cream is an absolute must.
rainforest hideaway
diners at the rainforest hideaway are treated not just to fantastic food, but to one of the most beautiful bay locations in the whole caribbean. this is the ultimate romantic restaurant on st lucia, with the fish-filled lagoon providing a delightful backdrop.
the food is no less magical than the setting, with the swedish chef providing an intriguing blend of modern european and traditional creole flavours. surrounded by twinkling lights reflected on sparkling water, no diner can remain untouched by the delightful experience that is rainforest hideaway.
boucan
for ultra-modern food in the most contemporary of surroundings, it has to be boucan. on the western side of the island, boucan is part of the hotel chocolat complex, meaning that a large percentage of its dishes are cocoa and chocolate-inspired. this is fine-dining at its best and fantastic for a special occasion or just a well-deserved treat. the nine-stage chocolate experience dessert is not to be missed.
jade mountain
although only available to resident guests, jade mountain has to warrant a mention when it comes to st lucia’s finest dining spots. tables are seated around an infinity pool that dances with reflected candlelight and starlight, with clouds seeming to skate across the pool’s mirror-like surface. the food is elegant, exotic and delicious. dinner at jade mountain epitomises the resort’s aim of nourishing the body and soul, taking dining on st lucia to dizzying new heights of glamour.
