IWC Schaffhausen celebrated its new Portofino watch collection at SIHH 2011 with a glamorous gala attended by special guests and well-known friends of the brand. A video of the extravaganza can be seen, here.
“A night in Portofino” attracted 900 guests from all over the globe and from various walks of life, whether film or sport, music or art.
Spotted in attendance were a number of luminaries including Kate Blanchett, Kevin Spacey, Elle Macpherson, Jean Reno, Matthew Fox, Marc Forster, Boris Becker, Luís Figo, Zinédine Zidane, Tim Jefferies and Ronan Keating.
One of the highlights of the evening was the world premiere of a photography exhibition starring these friends of the brand.
Shot by Peter Lindbergh in Portofino (the Italian coastal resort that inspired the name of the Portofino series) the exhibition explores the spirit of the 60s.
The collection, 'Peter Lindbergh’s Portofino', consists of a series of black-and-white photographs and is scheduled to go on a world tour.
On top of that, a behind-the-scenes film of the photography shoot was also aired at the gala.
Further entertainment was provided by the Zurich Opera House, comprising a 60-strong orchestra and tenor, Neil Shicoff.
Under the baton of conductor Paolo Carignani, they performed a variety of Italian classics such as Puccini’s “Nessun dorma”, Verdi’s “La donna è mobile”, and “O sole mio”.
The music in the final stages of the evening was provided by DJ Jack.E.
