Pollack Vineyards in Virginia is a small family winery. The owners still live in Ohio but have purchased and cultivated the vineyard and winery for their retirement. They check in once a month, but for the most part it is managed from afar. They were previous partners in a California winery.
The tasting room is pleasant and comfortable, although not very Virginian in its architecture. It has an attractive view (not as spectacular as Pippin Hill, Afton Mountain, but much more so than Cardinal Point or Jefferson winery). They were dog friendly and had their own sweet black and white house dog welcoming everyone. It is located 330 Newtown Road in Greenwood, VA 22943, very near Flying Fox and Cardinal Point Wineries, between historical Charlottesville and Waynesboro.
The tastings are $8. The staff was not very impressive and the least well trained of any of the or winerys yet. The woman that did our tasting barely imparted any information, and that which she did, was memorized word for word from the tasting list. They did not have crackers out for clearing the palate. When requested, they supplied a cracker that had a heavy taste to it, so interfered with flavors of the wines. She was very apathetic and did not impart any love for the product or place. She was neither rude nor welcoming. One got the feeling she wanted to be somewhere else.
I was not a particular fan of any of the wines. I'd give them a 3 out of a 5 rating scale. Interestingly their bottle prices were higher than most other wineries with better product. The best wine they had, was an interesting dessert wine Mille Fleurs, which is a blend of eau-de-vie brandy and a late harvest viognier wine creating a wine in the style of a port. I would have to rate the experience as very bland; it was not good or bad, but with so many wineries in the area offering a much more spectacular experience, I'd suggest skipping Pollack in favor of one of the many other Virginia wineries.

Hmm it appears like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I'll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I'm still new to the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for inexperienced blog writers? I'd really appreciate it.
