The Flying Fox Winery in Virginia has a small tasting building that is on different property from the vineyards, and in close proximity to Cardinal Point winery http://bit.ly/1aj99aD (which was highly rated for their wines), Afton Mountain Winery http://bit.ly/1bvpEBO and Veritas Winery http://bit.ly/18P4GgJ . The small white building has a traditional Virginia country look and a very small, but well-appointed space. It does have a nice, but very small indoor seating area, but it is too small to make it a destination to kick back and enjoy a glass of wine (beyond doing the tasting). There is no outdoor seating (besides two rocking chairs on a very small porch), which is generally standard for all wineries. It has some very nice wines and if you are in the area anyway it is a nice addition to the days agenda. Because of its size, it is not really a single destination venue. If there were more than 8 people at a time the place, it would seem crowded.
The tasting room is located at 27 Chapel Hollow Road in Afton VA 22920. When I was there 2 of their 8 wines on the tasting were sold out. They also had 8 wines that could be purchased by the bottle but were not included in the tasting. These do seem to be their better wines. My favorite wine from the tasting selection was 2010 Petit Verdot $23. I also enjoyed their 2012 Viognier $18, the 2012 Rose $16 $19, and the 2010 Merlot. One of their best wines (not on the tasting) is their Trio (2007, 2008, 2009) $25-$28, so if you are getting some bottles for your home cellar I would suggest trying them.
