This week's Cartier International Day was a twin celebration of the august jewelry house's 27^th anniversary of sponsorship and the Centenary of the Coronation cup. Ranking as one of the most prestigious and glamorous events of the British social calendar, the Coronation Cup was graced by marquee polo fans HRH Prince Philip, Mr Arnaud Bamberger, Executive Chairman of Cartier UK, and a cheering crowd of spectators decked out in their preppy best.

Mirroring the impressive sporting talent on the field, Cartier invited some 600 guests from the world of literature, stage, sport and society, including Christie Brinkley, Jilly Cooper, Tamsin Egerton, Bella Heathcote, Petra Nemcova and Dan Stevens, to name but a few. Together, these celebs and luminaries bore witness to a thrilling battle for the Centenary Coronation Cup between England and Brazil, a closely fought game with England winning 8-7.

Hailed as the King of Jewellers, Cartier has long forged a natural and powerful association with polo, the Sport of Kings. Last Sunday, Cartier UK was honoured to mark the end of its patronage of the competition with the centenary of the Coronation Cup, even as Cartier announced that it has signed a three-year sponsorship deal to sponsor the high-goal Queen’s cup Polo Tournament at Guards Polo Club starting 2012.  Played over a number of weeks, the Queen’s Cup is a world class tournament which attracts the game’s leading players from across the globe and embodies the sport’s beauty, spirit and excellence - another perfect fit for Cartier as it bids a fond farewell to the Coronation Cup.
