From Time-Out: Time Out’s Best Wine Bar "The 200-bin list champions underrated regions of Spain, France and Italy, and is kind on the wallet. Wine by the glass ranges from about £2.95 to £8. The shock is that the food is so good; that’s down to chef Carol Craddock, who worked at Bibendum"
2. Vivat Bachus - located in Clerkenwell
From Time-Out: "Runner-up in 2006 for Time Out’s Best Wine Bar award, this is one serious outfit, comprising restaurant and wine bar. The firm originated in South Africa, so that country is well represented on the impressive list (which runs to around 250 bins); a filleted version is also available. In the bar, suits and ties are to the fore (this is the edge of the City, after all), and there are plenty of waiters to see to their every need."
3. Salt Yard - located in Fitzrovia (Central London)

From Time-Out: "This wine bar and restaurant serves Spanish tapas with some Italian flourishes, with several sherries by the glass plus a good mix of Italian and Spanish unfortified wines by the glass."
4. Negozio Classica - located in Knotting Hill

The quality of food and wine is top drawer. We enjoyed scouring the shelving of bottles filling one wall; all can be bought to take home, or drunk on site with carpaccio, cheeses and other snacks....The usual classic regions plus a smattering of hefty southern Italy dominates – Altecino’s 1998 Brunello di Montalcino Montesoli and Liveli 2004 Orion Primitivo from Puglia."
